This kind of self-healing method has been practised for more than 7,500 years by Hindu people, and was the origin of Yoga Mudras. Master Supachai explained that Teelunjakorn is a hand exercise by pressing, squeezing or forming shapes to connect the acupuncture points in the palm that will produce reflexive actions by the internal organs, helping them to restore normal balance and functions. “According to traditional Chinese medicine, the palms of our hands have six meridians, which function like an electro-magnetic field in the body. These meridians are the reflexive points of internal organs,” he said. The index finger, for example, is connected to the large intestine; the ring finger is associated with the immune system; the thumb is linked to the lungs; the middle finger connects to the pericardium, while two meridians on the little finger are linked to the heart and small intestine. (See diagram) “When we press, squeeze, fold or connect those spots together, it’s like we’re installing an electronic circuit in order to receive energy from nature,” he said. The human body is like the universe that has been downsized, he said. Each part of the body is influenced by the magnetic fields from the Earth and the universe, and also associated with the five basic elements _ earth, fire, water, metal and wood. For example, the stomach and spleen are influenced by Saturn and are associated with the earth element. The lungs and large intestine are associated with the metal element, and are influenced by Venus. Deficiencies in any of these elements can result in both physical and psychological health problems. Those with metal deficiency, for example, would be resentful, emotionally fragile, and would like something spicy. Those with earth deficiency will be anxious and like sweet food. The kidneys and bladder are associated with the water element, and are influenced by Mercury. People with water element imbalance usually like salty food, and are easily frightened. The liver and gallbladder represent wood. People dominated by this element will be full of anger, and love sour food. The heart and small intestine are associated with fire. This can make people cheerful, and hot-tempered on occasion. They also usually like bitter food. Anyone who experiences a problem with their internal organs can use mudras to create an electronic circuit to receive energy from nature and the planets that will help make their organs function normally.
